Books and Explosions

Today my son got his first library card! I am so excited for him! He now is going to have to show me what a big kid he is by being responsible about his books. Since we are borrowing these books this shows him how important it is to take care of other people's property.

I'm so glad that Aunt Amy works in the Children's Library because she was able to pick out some books that Ares really enjoyed. He has been very interested in whales since our trip to Seaworld this summer, and so he got two books on whales. He absolutely loves them!

After we got home from the library Kyle, Ares, and I did an experiment in the empty parking lot behind our house. The experiment of choice this week: Mentos & Diet Coke (or as Ares and I like to call it, exploding soda!). Ares LOVED doing this!!! He kept asking to do it again, even the next day.
Kyle and I didn't have any clue on how to get the best explosion from the diet coke when we did this so we just guessed. We researched it afterwards though, and discovered a few tricks we'll have to do next time. I'm not going to post those ideas though until we try it though ;)
