Blue the Color of the Week

Blue is by far my son's favorite color. When I told him this week he could teach his babies about the color blue he was ecstatic! This is what we did this week:

Monday: Ares was so excited about it being blue week he had me make blue smoothies for breakfast. I made these by using banana, spinach, blueberries, almond milk, and a little bit of blue food coloring. They were a better hit with Ares then the green smoothies last week. After I picked Ares up from school, helped him with his homework, and ate dinner we all went to the YMCA to go swimming for a little bit. The kids all had so much fun!

Tuesday: For the science experiment this week I made blue bubbles. I used dish soap, water, and blue food coloring. Luckily I had a couple bubble wands from some bubbles I had that I had to throw out earlier.

The girls were so cute trying to blow the bubbles! They did actually blow some bubbles a few times, but my camera wasn't fast enough.

That afternoon I picked up Ares from school, and thankfully we were able to finish his homework very quickly, and eat a quick dinner before I had to pick up my sister Lindsey to take her and Ares to Ares' school skate party. I had Lindsey go with me because she loves roller skating, and is much better than I am at it. They both had fun, and Ares met up with a friend from school, Xavier, and they played for a little bit too. We then had Ares go to his karate class afterwards.

Wednesday:  After I dropped Ares off at school I got the privledge of watching my cousin Emma, who is 3 months younger then the twins, and Kyle Ann and Jude came over too. I decided to have them all do the art project I had planned for that day. Our art project was marble painting. I took an old Pringle's can and rolled a piece of paper into it.

I then took 7 marble sized beads (I didn't have marbles), and put three of them in light blue and the others in the dark blue.

I put the light blue beads in the can first, put on the lid, and had the kids shake. I emptied out those beads and then I added the dark blue beads, and had the kids shake I again.  Sorry I did not get a photo of Emma shaking the canister, I tried :(

This is how they turned out!

After dinner that night we did our taste testing of blue foods, and since blueberries are the only naturally blue food that I know of we ate those. The kids absolutely love blueberries and this whole container was gone in a matter of minutes.

Thursday: Kyle and I took the girls for our adventure of the week, the Keeper of the Plains. We took a lovely walk down by the river, and the girls tried to play with the ducks.

We then walked up to the bridge that led to the Keeper of the Plains. I love this bridge, it's so photogenic ;)

The girls explored the area, and had a lot of fun climbing the rocks while Kyle and I took turns trying to read the information posted throughout the area about the Plains Indians.

Here is the Keeper of the Plains. I just love this piece of art, and what it stands for in our city. If you have a chance to go for a walk down by the river I highly recommend it.

Friday: We finished the week with the Chinese for blue
