Green, the Color of the Week

I absolutely love the color green, and of course, with me being a natural red head, green loves me! I have been looking forward to this color since I made my lesson plans so I could share the love of green with my children. This is all the fun we had this week!

Monday: Monday is usually my water play activity day. Since the outdoor waterparks are officially closed, I decided to do a green bath instead. I have these color tablets for bath time to make the water green. I then searched the girls' room as well as Ares' room for green toys that were bath safe (yes that is the Hulk in there too). The girls had so much fun, and I even got Brigid to say green!

After their baths I painted their toenails green. I am not very good at painting nails, but I did a lot better then I normally do.

Tuesday: Tuesday was science project day! For this week's science experiment I had the girls mix blue and yellow paint to make green.

I then added shaving cream!!! The girls loved that part the best!

The girls loved the paint and shaving cream so much they decided to paint themselves too! Of course this led to another bath.

That night I then had the kids do their taste testing of green food. They tried limes...

a green bell pepper....

grapes....

a pear....

zucchini....

cucumber....

avocado....

and green smoothies! (actually I gave these for breakfast almost every morning this week, and Ares was grossed out by them being green at first. They were delicious though!)

Wednesday: This was our adventure day, and our adventure destination this week was Sedgwick County Park. When we first went to the park we went on a walk to find (and pick) things that were green. We of course found lots of leaves, and were able to find some grass that wasn't yellowed yet.

Then we played at the park!

Thursday: This day we took my sister to go look at a university she was thinking about transferring too. The tour went very well, we all got free lunch, and Lindsey got a free t-shirt, plus the application fee was waved. I'm not sure if she will end up going to college here, but it was a good experience for her to check out another campus.

Friday: Today was our art activity. Since we had picked leaves and grass at the park on Wednesday, I had the girls glue leaves to their paper to make a collage. This did not turn out so well because apparently I need a better brand of glue then the kind you can buy at the dollar tree.

This week was so much fun! Now Ares' can't wait for next week because we'll be doing a whole week dedicated to his favorite color, blue. :)

  1. All of Brigid's facial expressions crack me up!
I'm with Ares on the green smoothies. I probably wouldn't be able to get past the green color either! Lol!
