6th Week of Summer (June 28th- July 4th)

For some reason, I switched out my SD card back and forth in my camera this summer. When I tried to access my pictures on another SD card, I found out the card was corrupted somehow, so now I cannot access those pictures. I do have the pictures from my other SD card, so I can at least post those.

July 1st was the 2nd most anticipated day for Ares! He had the pleasure of going to LEGO Day at a nearby park. He had so much fun!!! They built with Legos, played Lego games, and made their own Legos from cardboard. :)

Later on that morning, the girls and Parker helped me make and deliver cookies for the police men and firefighters.

That night, Ares asked me if he could make dinner. I figured since he is 8 years old he is old enough to make dinner with supervision, so I taught him how to make his favorite dinner, grilled cheese and salad. He insisted on wearing his chef hat and apron while he cooked too, it was too cute! He did a great job at making dinner for everyone!

It was sooo good that even Apollo approved, and he is a picky eater for me!

On Saturday, July 4th, we celebrated Independence Day! We went over to my Aunt Jenny's and set off fireworks with family members. The girls had so much fun! Please excuse their dirty faces, they were snacking and playing constantly!

Ares was with his Dad for the holiday, and we picked him up after 10pm. We let him set off a couple fireworks, but then it was time for baths and bed! I'm so grateful everyone was safe this holiday.

5th week of Summer (June 21st - 27th)

I am awful at blogging. I swore I was going to be good, and blog every week this summer and I didn't even make it through JUNE!!! Oh well better late than never right?

June 21st was a Sunday this year, and it was also Father's Day. My son spent the day with his Dad, and since my husband was working, the twins, my sister, and I went to breakfast with my Dad. It was a fun experience! We took my Dad and Step Mom, Shari, to Stearman's Airfield and Restaurant where you can enjoy watching airplanes take off or land while you're eating. We ate breakfast, listened to live music, and explored some airplanes before we left.

Later on that day, when my hubby came home, he got what he had wanted for Father's Day... a nap! When the girls woke up from theirs they gave him their gift to him. They had decorated cookies at Cheryl's Bakery for him, and they were very proud of their work. Kyle was very surprised and delighted!

On June 22nd, Monday, we had our annual family scavenger hunt! Thank you so much Aunt Jenny for putting it all together!

Now we come to June 23rd, the day Ares had been waiting for.... well for months! His Star Wars Birthday Party!!! Kyle and I worked our butts off with the decorations, and my mother and father in law were saints and let us have the party at their pool. Thank you to everyone that came! This party was a huge hit! We are very blessed to have such amazing friends and family. :)

Wednesday, June 24th was another big day for us. My Mom and I took the kids to Wild Wednesdays at Tanganyika. Even though they are more pricey, it is a very hands on zoo. You can pet and feed many of the animals there. First stop was to feed the giraffes.

We looked around at a lot more animals, but I didn't take pictures of everything. One of my favorite stops was the red kangaroos though.

The kids really enjoyed the bunnies! Brigid and Ceri both tried to pick them up to take home.

My Mom treated Ares to a camel ride as part of his birthday present. He loved it!

After the brave boy rode the camel, it came as a surprise to me that he was afraid to feed the birds! My Mom had to help both him and Ceri feed them. Brigid and Parker went right up to the birds though, and fed them with no hesitation!

We saw many more animals, and the kids were able to feed the lemurs too! Sadly they didn't allow me to take pictures while they were doing so. We took one final picture before we left of my Mom with 3 of her grandbabies. :)

On Thursday, June 25th, we headed out to my Aunt Amy's where she had put together a whole afternoon of patriotic themed activities for all the cousins. They decorated flag cookies, made red, white, and blue slime, and bubbly science!

Afterwards, I used Amy's tire swing as the backdrop for my 4th of July pictures of the kids.

After an exciting week, Ares had to go back to his Dad's when we were done at Amy's.

Saturday, June 27th, we went to the open house at the Backyard Specialists. The girls bounced to their hearts' content on the trampolines, played on the equipment, played basketball, and relaxed with some snow cones.

Later on that afternoon, we picked up Ares, and headed over to my Mom's house so Ares could see his best friends. We invited them over, and had them do a fear factor contest where they ate the edible bugs Aunt Lindsey had gotten Ares for his birthday. Surprisingly the boys liked most of them. They definitely have a stronger stomach than I do!
