I apologize that these posts are starting to be later than they should be, but we have been so busy! Last week we learned about the letter "F", and it worked well with being the same week as the Fourth of July. We actually focused more on fireworks this week because we had something unplanned going on every day so it was hard for me to do the "F" activities I had scheduled for.
First thing we did for "F" was go see the city's firework's show. We had exchanged our Wingnuts baseball tickets for this game with fireworks since the day we had originally bought tickets for was free with a Riverfest button. Since we had a birthday party to attend prior to the game so we ended up being late to it, which was fine because then we were able to get pulled into the energy that the comes with the end of a baseball game. Our Wingnuts won, and it was glorious!
After the game there was a small award ceremony to recognize our hometown heroes. It was very sweet, and it gave me a good opportunity to explain to Ares what real heroes do. He seems to think that there are only two kinds of heroes, soldiers and Tony Stark. Now he is right, soldiers are heroes. In fact my cousin Jason is in the army and has been deployed several times, and he is my personal hero, but it was nice to explain that even people who are not in the military can be heroes too. After the tribute it was time for the fireworks!!!
All the things that were on my list this week were:
1.) Fireworks for Fourth of July
2.) Handprint flags
3.) Catch fireflies
4.) Go fishing
What could be more American than that list right there! Unfortunately for us the fireflies were not out yet, and I had called around to other people to see if they had seen any at their houses, and nobody had. We will be doing that soon though believe me! Everything else was fabulous and fun and there will be pictures soon to come. I wanted to hurry up and post this because it is already almost a week late. Sorry!
