Balloon Painting

Ever since I had seen the movie The Princess Diaries, I have wanted to try the art project that the princess and her mom do together. For those of you who do not know, or remember it is the scene where they fill paint into balloons, tack them to a giant canvas, and throw darts at them. I had expressed to my Aunt Jenny that this summer I had wanted to do this, and she said she wanted to do this too. She was extremely generous, and set up the whole thing in her front yard, and invited us over to join them.

It was only Zach, Riley, Lily, and Ares that took part in throwing the darts because the girls are too small. They were able to play with their cousin Emma for a little bit though as the others did this. The kids had a blast with popping the balloons with their darts because it caused the paint to splatter everywhere! It usually took several tries to pop a balloon, but Ares got his on his first shot (it was a blue one of course)!

They all did such a good job, and one by one they got all of the balloons popped! I even got a turn! Look at their beautiful art!
