Orange the Color of the Week

This week we learned about the color orange. I went out of order on my schedule for the week, and went to the Sedgwick County Zoo on Monday. We went during the morning with my Aunt Jenny with Emma and Kyle Ann with Jude. We all had so much fun with the animals, but first thing is first, before you enter the zoo there is a goldfish pond, and as we all know goldfish are orange.

The kids had so much fun at the zoo, and the girls were interested in interacting with the animals more so then they have been in the past.

For our Science project for the week I had the girls mix the colors red and yellow to make orange.  I squirted the paint on the paper, and then tapped ziplock bags over them, and let the girls have at it! This idea is awesome because it really minimizes the mess, plus it creates a cool new texture for the girls to play with.

This is how beautiful their papers turned out. They had a little issues of mixing it, but there is some orange in there.

We then went to pick Ares' up from school and went over to Grandma's house to go swimming. Now I know this doesn't really pertain to the color of the week, but it was something we did this week that was fun!

Now we can go back to the color orange! For our art project of the week I had cut up some orange tissue paper, cut out pumpkin shapes, and had the kids glue the pieces to the pumpkin cut outs.

Afterwards I had the kids do some taste testing of some delicious orange foods. First, an orange pepper...

a sweet potato....

an orange.....

and a carrot....

The kids loved their "dessert" for the evening!

Then finally we ended the week with learning orange in Chinese.
